Had a nice dinner of pan-seared halibut, roasted potatoes, spinach salad, and black-eyed peas with smoked turkey. A good moscato goes with that very well, “Happy New Year 2017!”
On tonight’s menu: A well-done porterhouse steak, tostones, and a spinach-chickpea salad with red bell pepper.
We decided to get a little creative with dinner. We made seared fillet mignon, steamed kale with almond shavings, and sautéed mushrooms with crushed pistachio “Can’t beat dinner at home!”
Dana and I decided to get out of the house and head into China Town in Chicago and grab hot pot for dinner. We took “China Town Outing”
Dana introduced me to Hot Pot (huŏguō) and I absolutely LOVE IT! You are seated at a table with a hot plate, and a bowl “火鍋!”
Dana treated me to a very good steakhouse in Downtown Chicago called Smith & Wollensky. Although it was very humid that day, and the place was “Weekend Birthday Celebration”

Well, our first attempt at pretzel rolls turned out pretty good. I may need to add less yeast next time. Both Dana and I really “Pretzel Rolls: First Attempt”
Pulled a recipe for fried plantains off the internet and tried it. They turned out WONDERFUL!
